people of the train

There was an old couple heading up to Seattle to visit their children.

We talked briefly about things to do in Seattle (chihuly glass museum, etc).

The man talked about his former career of medical illustration.

After a meandering conversation, he went on a hypothetical "if the human race died and aliens found our cell phones, they'd really see that as the proof we were smart; they'd say 'how could they have died when their whole planet was connected?'"

Overall thoughts on the coast starlight: a quite enjoyable trip with lots of pretty scenery.

However, I think the most interesting thing is the people...
So here's a short thread summarizing the glimpse into the lives of some of the people on the train, in no particular order.

My 4u has completed its journey north. Tomorrow we find out if it still boots

These pictures really can't capture the full aesthetic; the rocking of the train, the parallax, the contrast of the train car interior

The rainy wobscale.social/media/MnSXrJL1 gray weather we're going through is great preparation for life in Seattle

Getting out of SF is not in fact enough to avoid btc convos.
On the coast starlight I talked to an older man with a Rubik's cube about cubing and somehow he turned the convo to cryptocurrency.

So far the coast starlight has been quite enjoyable. The rocking is rather soothing. Sleeptime for now so I can enjoy the sights in the morning

The final configuration includes a helmet for the server (missed it during previous packing)

I like that the temporary terminal blog-like-thing has had one post in the last 5 years. (temporaryterminal.org/terminal)

On a scale of 0 to over 9000, is this a meme?

health

Ugh my chest has had a little bit of pain on and off for the last week but I'm too busy moving to do anything but ignore it.
Bodies are weird and scary.

My stuff is now all packed up and in storage. I feel like I've basically made it to Seattle already (even though I've still got a month and change of bouncing around first).

It was nice to see my stuff packed and know I still don't have *that* much stuff.

Commits in the main Kubernetes mono-repo thing from 'amazon.com' emails: 4

I wish K8s were under AGPL so any patches aws needed for their masters would need to be public.
Hopefully they'll do that anyways by GA.

@omnipotens@linuxrocks.online Heya, I think linuxrocks may not be refreshing some remote avatars.

I updated mine a month ago I think, and the job should run daily, but it appears to still be stale on linuxrocks. Other instances show my current one just fine.

Want to check if you have failed sidekiq jobs or permission errors?
